Background
From soft drinks to craft beers, coffees and teas to new energy drinks, our client leads the beverage packaging industry with innovative technologies that redefine how the world looks at beverage cans.
Continuous improvement and investment in their Research and Development site gave the organisation the future-proofing it needed to give its customers the innovative packing it requires to enhanced shelf-life and improve sustainability of many of the everyday beverages we consume daily.
Integral to these site improvements was a major refurbishment program for the organisation’s temperature-controlled environments. This proved particularly challenging as the site development coincided with a spike in demand for long-term storage and the testing of multiple products on-site. Another huge consideration for the project was that any equipment installed would need to adhere to the exceptionally high standards of hygiene and reliability required for a research and development facility.
The Challenge
Their Facility Manager contacted AHR to resolve the storage shortage that would come into effect during the refit. They had two requirements. One for the storage of cans at +20°C and another for storage at +35°C. Both units were to be located on-site and adjacent to the main facility. The specialist team at AHR completed a site visit to gather further information. Upon inspection, it was apparent that they needed to fully fit out the stores with 4-tier shelving and be able to enter the unit with a small hand truck to collect samples for testing. A ramp would, therefore, be required for ease of access.
The team at AHR subsequently confirmed all electrical loadings to the electrical contractor complete will full CAD drawings for space planning.
The Solution
With the site survey completed and plans signed-off, AHR began the installation of two 12.2 metre x 3.8 metre temperature-controlled container stores – one set at +20°C and the other at +35°C both with a spacious 31 pallet capacity.
Both units benefited from access ramps, improved load height (2.505 metre), no intrusion of fridge plant within the interior space, thermally efficient 5-element sandwich panel, hygienic non-slip resin surface floor, a full safety system – including trap alarm & emergency exit door releases, LED lighting and digital data readout.
