As one of the UK’s biggest, and therefore busiest chicken production sites this client needed some help when it took on a new customer that meant production and storage facilities needed to make a change.
We were called in to survey the existing site and provide advice and technical support on how best to solve the potential supply and storage problems.
After a detailed study of the situation we concluded the most cost effective solution would be to demolish an existing out-building to make way for two Portable cold stores.
A strategically located 50-foot, three pallets wide refrigeration unit that would need to be installed during the plants downtime so as not to disrupt production and customer transport arrangements would be implemented first.
Followed later (when production had been ramped up) by a forty-foot unit with extended capacity capable of storing 31 pallets that would need to be carefully craned into position between two existing buildings, and connected to the first fifty-foot unit via a secure link way assembly.
The whole operation was executed perfectly; timing was vital as site access for the daily collections of produce by articulated refrigerated vehicles could not be disturbed under any circumstances!
“Eh voila” – Almost half a million chickens a week, and a truly integrated solution later – without any disruption to the daily transport schedule = one extremely happy AHR client.
